Wood has been part of my life since I was a child. I grew up watching my father work with it, with patience and skill, and that mixture of the smell of sawdust and varnish sparked a curiosity in me that soon turned into a passion. By the age of eleven, I was already making my own baseball bats, slingshots and bows to play with my friends in the hills of Galicia. Every piece was an adventure, a way of learning and understanding how wood could be transformed into something useful, beautiful and durable.
 
Over time, that childhood hobby became a part of me – more of a refuge than a profession. I began working on restoring farmhouses, which gave me access to old beams, doors and planks from demolished buildings, all steeped in history. Instead of throwing them away, I salvaged them and gave them a new lease of life, turning them into furniture and decorative pieces for my home. And so, amidst the tools, dust and memories, I gradually found my own path as a craftsman, keeping alive the tradition that I had once seen begin in my father’s hands.
 

As fate would have it, that path led me to set up OAR cottage alongside my life partner, Carmen. She has always been able to see what lies behind each piece: the time, effort and emotion they hold. The way she values my work reminded me that what we do with love never goes unnoticed. Carmen was — and still is — the reason why every project is born with a little piece of soul.
